5 Ways to Use Honey for Your Skin
We all love the taste of honey, but how about the benefits it has for the skin? If you’ve never given it a try, I highly recommend it. Here are five different ways you can use honey on your face and reap the benefits.
Honey Can Help Clear Oily Skin
Do you suffer from oily skin? Try some raw honey to help prevent breakouts. Be sure to make a mask which has honey and other natural ingredients. Something containing salicylic acid which is more natural than what you find in drug stores – strawberries are a good choice. You can mix mashed strawberries with honey by themselves, or add in some baking soda and create a really nice facial scrub.
It Can Help You to Get Rid of Acne
Do you find that you get a fair amount of breakouts? This can be caused by extra oils on your skin, but also may be caused by bacteria which clogs your pores. Treat pimples and other acne by putting some raw honey straight on to the affected areas. Let that sit for approximately 10 minutes, and then take a warm cloth to gently rinse off.
Honey is Great for Infection Prevention
One of raw honey’s natural health benefits is that it is a powerful antibacterial. If you are prone to getting skin infections or you already have one starting, try treating it with a bit of raw honey. One of the simplest ways to use honey as an antibacterial is to make honey compresses by putting a bit of honey on to a damp cloth, then dabbing it on your skin, and letting it sit there. Then take a warm cloth and rinse it off.
Use Honey for Natural Skin Exfoliation
Exfoliating your skin gives you a good cleanse while at the same time removing dead skin cells. There are so many great products to choose from, both store-bought and homemade. Honey is an amazing choice for creating your own exfoliator. Just blend raw honey with a bit of baking soda and a some jojoba oil or coconut oil. Scrub gently on your face and then rinse with cool or tepid water.
Cleanse Your Skin With It
This might seem counterproductive, but the properties of raw honey can actually cleanse your skin and keep your pores clear. Be sure you are using raw and locally-sourced honey, and not the sugar-loaded honey that’s in grocery stores. As honey is quite thick, it is difficult to cleanse with it alone. Blend the honey with a healthy oil of your choice (maybe try coconut oil) until you are able to spread it on your face. Then you simply massage it and rinse off.
The following DIY recipe has two such foods: baking soda and raw honey.
One of the ingredients always present in the kitchen, baking soda, invaded the cosmetic field. Would you believe that its role in cosmetic treatments was first noticed by the Egyptians? Baking soda is an amazing facial scrub. It reduces redness and helps to prevent pimples.
