My daughter has recently completed two weeks of a free trial with K5 Learning. This is a wonderful online learning program for children to sharpen their skills at reading and math, and I have to say that I was very impressed. Every day, my daughter was excited to log on and dive in to the process.
As a mom, I loved the fact that she was so thrilled to do this each day, rather than asking to play any video games that don’t hold nearly the same potential for a successful blending of fun and learning!
K5 Learning has free assessments to help you to determine which level will best suit your child, along with sample lessons for anyone wishing to give it a whirl. If you feel it to be a good fit for your child, I highly recommend signing up for the two week free trial that they offer.
Rather than listening to me ramble on about it, why not hear what my daughter herself has to say? She wrote this all on her own – she is really loving to write these days, and I’m sure it has much to do with the fun she has had with her honed reading skills!
“K5 Learning is a way to improve your school subjects that you are missing out on during the summer, while having fun. When you’ve finished a math sequence, you get five minutes of games to play. These include math problems, hand co-ordination, eyesight, measurement, and just regular playing.
Every 100 words you complete, you get to watch a hilarious 2 – 3 minute video about a funny little guy whose luck is down. Also, if the words are too hard, your parents can decide what words are easier or harder depending on your level by clicking “Add Words”.
When you are reading, you get to choose themes based upon common sense and your experience, or what you feel is best for you that day. If you’re having a bad day, you will cheer up once you log in and they give you a joke. One of my favorites: What military vehicle works under the ocean? A fish tank!”
Her final words? K5 Learning = A for Awesome!
